One Little Word
In December 2010 I stumbled upon the practice of “one little word.”
Some people I know choose a word that describes a value they want to invite into their life.
Some people choose something they want to celebrate and do more of.
Ali Edwards hosts a blog and scrapbooking project as a way to be creative and thoughtful about your word. I joined the scrapbooking project for the year 2011 with the word “notice.” The choice that year was because I found I was doing a lot of noticing in my writing and photography and wanted to record the experience.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and while I decided to go forward into 2012 with my own monthly prompts in my notebook, it is an enterprise I heartily support and may join again in the future.
My one little word for 2012 is “delight.” This time the choice was because I want to invite more of it into my life or perhaps just to make sure I’m noticing the delight all around me. As I mentioned in my other blog, I know that my one little words will layer one upon the other like lace over silk – providing a rich and textured experience for me and I look forward to recording it – possibly on this blog, but surely on my other one!
